Understanding the Logic behind FSBO
If you've been looking into real estate at all in the past because you want to sell your current home, you may be wondering what some of the lingo is about. Rather that getting into the complicated stuff, let's talk about one acronym that people have the hardest time understanding. FSBO means For Sale by Owner, and this is basically a way to sell your home privately instead of dealing with a pricy real estate agent. Are there any real benefits to doing this by yourself besides the money you'll save? Well, that depends on how you look at it. Are you motivated to get your home sold? If so, then I have only three words for you: Sell house privately!
Okay, so it seems like something a caveman would scream at you if cavemen still roamed the Earth and possessed a fundamental understanding of the English language, but you really should "sell house privately" instead of going with with a big-time company. Look, a big company, taking a huge commission, will definitely work hard to get your house sold for you, but it's a little too much like an intrusion for some people.
FSBO homes are also rather desirable to homebuyers. They don't want to deal with the real estate agents anymore than you do. Can you imagine trying to negotiate rates with someone who makes more money if you spend more money? They will tell you anything you want to hear in order to clean up a commission. This can lead to questionable practices, and this will reflect on the homeowner for letting that agent have the listing.
You can get around this by using a remote agent service, Remoov, that you find on the web. They'll still offer you the same professional marketing and listing services, but instead of paying them a commission, you'll only have to pay a small, refundable (if your home doesn't sell) rate up front.
