Is Private Selling a Viable Option?
If you're wondering how a sell a house in a tough economy, then trust me when I say that you're far from being alone. Many people are wondering the same thing. If you've ever taken a detour through a lavish neighborhood, you may notice that not too many people are successful in their venture, as the for-sale signs are worn from the weather but the homes are still standing. But exactly what causes this? Even though people are holding fast to their money and banks are a little more stubborn with home loans, people still need a roof over their heads. So why aren't homes selling like they used to?
Ironically, this has to do with the people who tout themselves on knowing exactly how to sell a house. The real estate agencies out there, with their insistence on earning top dollar for even the humblest of homes, are saturating the market with overpriced homes in order to earn more money. They work on commission, primarily, and if they sell only 80% of the homes they used to, this means they need to make up that extra 20% by jacking up the prices of homes.
It all seems to work backwards in real estate agent land. We thought they knew how to sell a house? In short, they're bringing on their own extinction. Today's homeowners are throwing out their FSBO (For Sale by Owner) signs when they want to get their homes sold. They're no longer reliant on agents.
A lot of them are turning to the internet in order to hire remote agents. A remote agent service provides exactly what a real estate agent does; only instead of taking a commission, the remote agent receives a small upfront, refundable fee. This means that homeowners have a lot more room to maneuver when it comes to selling a house. It's a win-win for everyone involved.
